What is a Thingmo?

Thingmo = a hassle free blog. Imagine you could describe the perfect blog to the chef at a fancy blog restaurant. We’re the chef. And the waiter. Also the maitre’d, whatever it is those guys do besides dangle a towel over their arm.

We make Thingmos out of WordPress.
3238781353_813ea06573_mWordPress has evolved from being merely the leading blog software to a major player as a full Content Management System. Updates are automatic, so you never need to upload files to the server. For ease of use, WordPress is unbeatable. Your site design, including all graphics, layouts and text styles, will be created as a custom WordPress theme. Themes are modular and thus fully transferable, should you ever need to do so.

We do a lot of stuff for you.
We don’t just hand you an empty Thingmo and kick you out the door. Not even on a bad day! For up to 25 pages and/or posts, we’ll copy and paste your text from anywhere electronic — sorry, napkins and tear-soaked journal pages excluded — and commence with formatting. You’ll launch with a robust blog awaiting your readers.

Human beings seem to love to categorize things: journal vs. diary vs. blog. We’re no different. We’ll catalog the heck out of your site, based on the categories you give us, and the feedback we give you. That’s called teamwork, which is a subcategory of work.

Get Social (Media)

“Oh! Hello, my dear! How lovely to see you at our little soiree. You simply must meet our friend George — he’s an editor at the New Yorker, and he’s been going on and on about their new focus on zombie romance lit. And Melissa is married to a zombie as well… you two have so much in common. Now, where’s that little man with the hors d’oeuvres tray?”

Such is the role social media plays in our lives now, though it doesn’t require you to wear pants. As your site construction is underway, Heather will walk you through the steps needed to give yourself a social media overhaul using popular platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Yelp and other social networking sites.

Here’s what Heather has in store for you:

Pricing & Get Started

225

is the princely sum that will pay for us to strap on our toolbelts and start measuring things. This figure includes: WordPress install, custom designed theme, buildout of up to 25 pages, a custom Contact Page, Google Analytics, DNS routing from your registered domain name, and, of course, the Social Media Consultation.

Bluehost hosting account
Thingmo uses Bluehost for all our website projects. In our experience, their services are affordable, impossibly generous, robust like a lumberjack, and well supported. Bluehost charges $6.95 a month in one year increments. Please note that Thingmo will ONLY work with Bluehost accounts, due to support issues. It’s nice that your cousin runs a server in his basement, but that won’t convince us to use him as tech support for something as important as your feelings.

Lots of other things for Thingmos
Brevity is the soul of wit, which thus makes us out to be boring, uptight and wordy jerks. Whatever! Pixels are free! But if you wish to view our entire list of services, please download the PDF Price Sheet.

Who We Are

Thingmo is the husband and wife team of Steve Libbey and Heather Reddy. While Steve designs and develops, Heather guides you through all stages of your online presence.

usThey’re fascinated by the evolving role of social media in the everyday lives of people, from procrastinating on Facebook to using Google Calender to schedule doctor appointments. As social media permeates our world, matters of technological etiquette and digital privacy become more pressing: do you protect your twitter updates? Have two accounts and protect just one? Leave your Facebook profile open? Heather hasĀ  a special interest in the evolving form of self-expression for creatives in a Google-able universe. While not worrying over your desired web image or personal brand, she’s probably refreshing Mashable.

Meanwhile, Steve has been building websites since 1995 and can dictate HTML, which he threatens to do so regularly. He has built several hundred websites by now, from cozy brochureware to sprawling ecommerce megamalls. No one has yet convinced him that building websites for regular people won’t result in political and social revolution. Oh, and he can build guitars.

Steve and Heather love living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. where they enjoy reading webpages about hiking, camping, wind-surfing, biking, and playing with children. Their dog needs to be let out and the cat is probably hungry.
